CONCRETE ARCHEOLOGIES
Artist residency, 2021, Tegelen (NL)
The series of photographs documents a selection of concrete rocks, found in a pile of rubble in a former cigar factory.
What is a discarded piece of concrete? What does it become when you give it some attention, much like a found fossil or geological formation? The concrete rock often goes unnoticed, perhaps because it considered unnatural; not worthy of fascination, wonder, or closer study. Yet, within a piece of concrete there is an archive of geological origins, architectural stories and cultural hints; found in the traces of rebar, floor covering and stone aggregate.
